At Girl Scouts, we are fortunate to offer quality virtual programming to girls, volunteers, and families – so you can stay connected and active from wherever you are!

As we find ourselves navigating challenging times related to the COVID-19 pandemic, we've compiled some easy-to-complete badge options for Girl Scouts of all ages (K-12 grades) that are perfect for you and your Girl Scout to do at home.

Global Action Award

Girl Scouts' Global Action award calls for girls to address the Global Goals for Sustainable Development, or SDGs for short, by discovering, connecting, and taking action in their communities and beyond. In 2020, girls will explore SDG 5 (Gender Equality) to earn their Global Action award.

Virtual Meeting Tools

Below is a list of free and low-cost tools that troops and communities in other councils are using for virtual meetings. While we cannot endorse or support specific online meeting tools, we encourage you to look at these and alternative options and discuss the pros and cons with parents and girls to determine the best solution for your troop or community needs.

While all of these options have a free version, please note you may be prompted to consider their upgraded versions for a subscription fee.

• Zoom - FAQ
  A note on how to keep Zoom meetings secure
  Note: Meetings durations maximum of 40 minutes in free version.
  For additional guidance, please review Zoom'ssecurity recommendatons,
  • Make all conference meetings password protected.
  • Discourage sharing meeting links on public-facing platforms.
  • Enable/Assign a Co-Host that has the same administration duties while the administrator/host presents.
  • Disable theAllow Removed Participants to Rejoinoption, which prevents those kicked off the call to come back.
  • For even more meeting security, you can:
  • Disable all non-host screen sharing capabilities, making sure screen share capabilities remain host-only.
  • Enable the "Waiting Room" feature, which allows hosts of the meetings to see participants in a virtual staging area so they can be vetted before joining.
